Andrew is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Chicago area, specializing in Substance Abuse and Marital/Relationship concerns. As a behavioral based therapist, he focuses on motivational issues using techniques from Cognitive as well as Dialectical Behavioral therapy models.
Andrew works within the realm of individual and couples work but also excels in group therapy as a collaborative approach to a collective problem. By employing Dialectical approaches, Andrew helps individuals identify the problem while simultaneously improving self-worth. Through the use of Positive Psychology, he utilizes clients’ strengthens, positive traits and personal joys to unlock keys to the pursuit of happiness and life balance. By working with where the client is at, his goal is to explore the tools at hand to reach a cooperative solution at the client’s pace.
Andrew received his Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from Boston University School of Medicine as well as completing a self-designed undergraduate degree in marital counseling, focusing specifically on relationship and intimacy concerns, from Ohio University’s Self-Directed degree program where he graduated with honors. Andrew was a proud ally for Ohio University’s LGBTQ Center, helping individuals overcome societal barriers to happiness and acquire balance in one’s own sense of self. Andrew worked his way through school as a professional official and referee, integrating him further into the world of athletics. In the pursuit of his own lifestyle balance, Andrew spends his free time creating art, weight training, cycling, exploring Chicago’s vast art as well as being a full time devoted husband.
